Carpentry Courses
Being a Master Carpenter I am qualified to teach and supervise apprentices, and give courses to more experienced carpenters on various aspects of Carpentry.
I can offer courses on subjects such as:
- Compound Joinery course - How to make Hipped, Valley and Jack rafter roofs.
- I have developed my own individual style on how to make hipped roofs, based on the German system of “Schiften”, but I have taken it a stage further, and incorporate a calculation system to back up what is drawn.
- Staircase making course - Using a combination of calculation and laying up. Making straight run staircases, quarter, half turn or spiral staircases, also including design safety aspects.
- Timber joints course - The making of various timber joints, their proportions, and their positions in timber frame buildings.
- Roof making course - How to design roofs of various styles, draw, calculate and make.
- Timber frame course - How to design frames of various styles, draw, calculate and make.
- Other courses can be catered for, or combinations of the above.
The courses can be of various time spans depending on experience level of individuals. The venue for the courses can vary depending on group size, I have various location where I can hold courses, or I can travel if required. See links for possible Bed and Breakfast in the area.
Costs for courses can vary depending on size of group, time span, and materials needed for course.
Courses will be held using mainly hand tools, which I do not supply. So individuals are expected to have the basic Carpentry tools.
If your interested in any of the above then please don’t hesitate to contact me to ask for more details.
